Like a good liberal, I get excited when Jon Stewart makes people who fuck up political discourse in this country look like the idiotic, opportunists they are. But then I remember that the only people that really watch Jon Stewart are people who already know this.
So while this is dope. And funny. And yet, sad. It will change nothing.
And that’s sad. Because the people who should be learning from Jon Stewart – and I know he’d hate this – are journalists. If they did what he did here with McCaughey, well he wouldn’t have to.

I am treacherous, imperial, impermanent, impetuous. I rock like an archeologist, draw a picture like a forensic artist, perform like a dramatist. I'm fabulously wicked, miraculous, rustic, majestic, ridiculous.

It might change something if it was on the actual news instead of the Daily Show. Imagine if news anchors and pundits had conversations about what the health care reform bill actually contains rather than just telling us what each side is saying it contains. Here's a typical news broadcast lede:
What?! No! Don't have a debate on the issue. Open the bill and read what it says to your audience!

Oh I know. But the problem is 1) they get ratings off hysteria and 2) they want to seem "fair", as if fairness to every random, stupid ass thing someone says is the issue.
I just wish that having this interview out there actually did what liberals will say it has done - which is end the stupidity around those pages of one (because there are like 4 other bills) health care reform bill.
