		<description>I support nonviolent protest at all times.  Without it, I wouldn&#039;t have the right to vote.  Slashing tires and all that misdirected chaos is ridiculous though.

And you&#039;re absolutey 100% right about that direct democracy nonsense.  That&#039;s what has run California into the ground.  Whenever we do these ballot initiatives (Are you for or against funding a 600-mile bullet train?  Are you for or against harsher drug laws?  Are you for or against everyone getting a pony?) , people vote for more services and less taxes.  In other words, we want what we want, but we want it for free.  Also, we want half our state to work for the police and the other half in jail.  Also, we&#039;re absolutely terrified of gays being happy.  Also, whatever 51% of us want gets enforced 100% on everyone.

Obviously, none of that works in real life, which is why our state is in perpetual fail mode.  I shudder to think what direct democracy would look like nationwide.  We might mess around and reinstate slavery.</description>
