Mugglenet.com reported recently that actor Joshua Herdman (Goyle) revealed a movie plot change from that of the book in the upcoming Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Part 2. The changes were not planned but born out of necessity after the arrest and sentencing of Jamie Waylett, the actor that filled the role of Vincent Crabbe for all past Potter movies, for possession of cannabis. It was decided that Waylett’s character would be written out of the movie and the pivotal (true potter fans know what I mean)role he plays toward of the second movie would be filled by Herdman’s character Goyle. He also let slip that the two part movie would be split soon after Harry, Ron, and Hermione are caught by the snatchers. Past reports pointed to the split being shortly after the trio’s trip to the Lovegood’s house but I guess that has been changed.

In other Potter news , Warwick Davis, who has always played Prof. Flitwick, will be taking on the part of Griphook the goblin. Perhaps that means that Flitwick won’t be seen in the final two films. Harry Melling will be seen the first installment of the Deathly Hallows in his old role as Dudley Dursley alongside Richard Griffiths who will again portray Vernon Dursley. House elves Dobby and Kreacher will appear in the Deathly Hallows after being minimized, or illuminated, in past films. That’s all the news for now; more updates to come.

The latest “Harry Potter” movie cast a $104 million spell over worldwide box offices during its first day in theaters, setting a new record for the boy wizard, distributor Warner Bros Pictures said on Thursday.

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” the sixth in the film series based on the popular books by J.K. Rowling, grossed $58.18 million in North America and $45.85 million overseas on Wednesday, the Time Warner Inc-owned studio said.

The U.S.-Canadian tally, which includes a record $22.2 million from midnight showings, marks the second-biggest Wednesday opening domestically.

Only last month’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” scored a bigger midweek first-day gross, with $62 million in domestic ticket sales on Wednesday June 24, according to Paul Dergarabedian, box office analyst for Hollywood.com.

The latest “Harry Potter” also ranks as the fourth-highest single-day gross for a film release in North America, behind No. 1 “Dark Knight” ($67.1 million), No. 2 “Transformers: Revenge,” and third-place “Spider-Man 3” ($59.8 million).

Having seen both Harry Potter and the Transformers movie, I have to ask…what is everyone thinking? Transformers consisted of stereotypically bad Autobots (gold teeth? not being able to “read good”?) Decepticons that were humans? And Megan Fox running in slow motion.
