Last week, I told you I would take my game to another level and predicted a .500 week. How does 10-6 sound? That brings my season record to 15-16-1. Some of you are saying, “I could flip a coin and do better.” You are wrong. My paying clients knew the secret “for entertainment purposes only” betting rules in week one (double up on the upset special) and week two (double up on the MitB) and have done quite well.

There are too many 7-10 point spreads this week for me to have a stellar round of picks, (you know, on any given Sunday and all), but I think you’ll be happy with my selections overall.

Since my picks are late and many of you have been waiting anxiously for my wisdom and guidance, I am giving everyone FREE advice on the Upset Special and Money in the Bank picks this week:

Double up on the Upset Special pick.

Triple up on the Money in the Bank pick.

By knowing the rules, if you put all of your money in the bank on my money in the bank pick, you know what you are getting into before you lose all of your money in the bank.

Here are my predictions for week 4 of the NFL.

—

Tennessee at Jacksonville (+3): Jacksonville. Since Jax is at home and getting 3 points, I will stick with them and hope they play a little smashmouthier than the Titans.

St. Louis at San Francisco (-10): St. Louis. San Fran should win, but not by this much.

Dallas at Denver (+3): Denver. Dallas is not good. It may be my irrational hate as a skins fan speaking here, but every team that loses TO, misses TO and Dallas is no exception.

Baltimore at New England (-2): The Pats are not healthy enough to overcome what is about to hit them.

Oakland at Houston (-9.5): Houston. Oakland’s defense isn’t that bad, but I am not picking Jamarcus Russell, on the road, against a good offense.

NY Jets at New Orleans (-7): New Orleans. Pierre Thomas is the truth. He needs to go by Pyrex Pierre or something a little more gangster, though. He can never compete with the best backs in the league with a name like Pierre.

Buffalo at Miami (+2.5): Buffalo. If you have TO in your fantasy league, Sunday will make you very happy.

Seattle at Indianapolis (-10.5): Indy. Look for the Colts to take an early lead and quickly dismiss any chance the Seahawks have at keeping this one close.

Tampa Bay at Washington (-7): Tampa Bay. Washington’s offense isn’t as bad as it looks. It’s actually 13th in the league. But points aren’t awarded for moving the chains, so there is no reason to think the Skins will beat anyone this season by more than 3-4 points.

NY Giants at Kansas City (+9): NY. The Chiefs are among the worst teams in football with no hope, zero, of turning things around this season.

Detroit at Chicago (-10.0) Chicago. If Kevin Smith is healthy, I’d take the points. If he is out, which he appears to be, I don’t see how Stafford can carry his team on the road against an offense that gets better each week.

San Diego at Pittsburgh (-6.5): San Diego. On the one hand, Pittsburgh is the defending champion, at home, in what is the equivalent of a must-win game in week 4. On the other hand, the Steelers suck. My irrational joy in cheering against them is bolstered by another potential loss ahead. Without Troy Polamalu, they can’t stop Gates, Jackson and the chargers running game. In addition, the Steeler’s offense is suspect. When you rely on Shaun McDonald to pick up the slack, you are not an elite team. That said, I can’t, with any confidence, expect the Steelers to actually lose. They will either show some cajones and win by 24 or keep it close and not cover the spread. I’m taking the points.

Cincinnati at Cleveland (+6): Browns. UPSET SPECIAL! The Bengals have beaten the Packers and Steelers and almost beat the 3-0 Broncos. The Browns are 0-3 but have opened against Min, Den, and Bal – teams with a combined 9-0 record. Derek Anderson is way better than Quinn, and this week I am picking Cleveland to shock the world!

Green Bay at Minnesota (-3.5): Green bay. The Vikings haven’t beaten anyone good. I am sure that Aaron Rodgers would eat Farve’s children a la Iron Mike, if he could, so I think a Packer’s victory is MONEY IN THE BANK!

5-9-1. Not the best record to start with, but you get what you pay for. In week 3, I plan to take my forecasting to the next level … .500 baby!. Here are my predictions for week 3 of the NFL.

——

Tennessee at NY Jets (-3): New York. Tennessee probably isn’t an 0-3 team, but this is a tough match up against a confident defense.

Kansas City at Philadelphia (even): Philly. The Eagles have about 29 QBs and all of them could win against the Chiefs.

[ed. note: When I originally called the KC/Phi game, the line was not available. I am picking Philly still, given the current -7.5 line as of 9/27.]

Carolina at Dallas(-9): Carolina. Carolina will send Dallas spiraling to the bottom of the NFC East and start the clock on the last few games of Wade Phillip’s head coaching career.

San Francisco at Minnesota (-7): San Francisco. I trust Mike Singletary to shut down AP. I don’t trust Brett Farve to take advantage.

Green Bay at St. Louis (7): Green Bay. After two anemic performances, the Packers offense gets healthy this week.

Denver at Oakland (-2): Denver. No one is talking about Denver right now. Perhaps next week someone will.

Atlanta at New England (-4): New England. The Giants in 07 created the blueprint for beating the Pats. The Jets followed it perfectly. I don’t think Atlanta has the horses on defense to do the same.

Jacksonville at Houston (-4.0): Houston. When the team is more excited about an eventual 2nd stringer in Tim Tebow than its current roster, its time to go against the Jags.

Cleveland at Baltimore (-13.5): Cleveland. A little prevent defense and a Derek Anderson sighting in the 4th quarter should keep the Browns within 14 by the end of the game.

New Orleans at Buffalo (+6.5): New Orleans. The Bills have had a nice couple of games, but that’s no reason for this line to be so low. Who outside of Northwest NY is betting against the Saints?

Miami at San Diego (-6.0): Miami. When did San Diego’s defense become average? The wildcat is gonna give them fits all day.

Indianapolis at Arizona (-2.5): Indy. God loves Kurt Warner. God loved Job, too. 2TDs, 2 INTs and a fumble for Kurt.

Washington at Detroit (+6): Washington. This week, the Washington offense goes off like a 15-year old virgin in a whore-house.

Pittsburgh at Cincinnati (+4): Cincy. Stiller fans, what will piss yinz off more? Starting off 1-2 or my being right. AGAIN!

NY Giants at Tampa Bay (7): Tampa. UPSET SPECIAL! Tampa isn’t very good, but neither is the Giants defense. If the Bucs avoid turning the ball over, look for them to get their first win.

Chicago at Seattle (+3.0) Bears. Matt Forte versus the Seattle defense is what I call MONEY IN THE BANK.

Some of you may wonder what the name cx2020 means. I could tell you that it means “I see (C) the unknown (the algebraic variable “X”) with 20/20 vision (2020) and it would be true. But since actions speak louder than words, I plan to show you the meaning of cx2020 by unveiling my awesome powers of prognostication though weekly NFL football picks.

Each week (for entertainment purposes only) I will predict the outcome of the NFL’s games and give you one Money in the Bank guaranteed game and one upset special.

Unfortunately, I won’t have in-house “who makes the best picks” competition this week. I assume this is because my fellow Forbes Ave bloggers cower in fear of the awesome power that is my prognostication skill, but perhaps it’s because I never asked them to participate.

Without further ado, here are your Forbes Avenue Picks for Week 2:

Houston at Tennessee (-6.5): Tennessee. Houston’s overrated offense will be shut down for the second weekend in a row.

New Orleans at Philadelphia (even): New Orleans. The Eagles are a mess.

Carolina at Atlanta (-6): Atlanta. As long as Jake Delhomme is the qb, go against Carolina.

Minnesota at Detroit (+10): Detroit. The losing streak continues for at least another week, but the team will still cover.

Cincinnati Bengals at Green Bay Packers (-9.5): Green Bay. Green Bay has too many tools. Cincy has too few.

Oakland at Kansas City (-3): Kansas City. The Chiefs offense will out pace the Raiders, Cassel or no Cassel.

New England at NY Jets (+4): New England. The Jets are talking way too much trash to the wrong team. I would not allow children under 17 to watch this game without an adult.

St. Louis at Washington (-10): Washington. My Money in the Bank pick of the week. This line might scare mere mortals but the Skins have a lot to prove and will avenge last years fluke loss to the Rams.

Arizona at Jacksonville (-3.0): Jacksonville. Arizona does not play well on the east coast.

Seattle at San Francisco (+1.0): Seattle. Critical game for two teams that will both pass the Cards in the division this year.

Tampa Bay at Buffalo (-5.0): Tampa. Buffalo played their hearts out last week. This week they get their hearts ripped out.

Pittsburgh at Bears (+3.0) UPSET SPECIAL!: Bears. Both teams are missing their defensive leader, but only one has the offensive weapons to take advantage.

Baltimore at San Diego (-3.0): Baltimore. With LT, maybe the Bolts have a shot. Without him, they become one dimensional bird feed for the Ravens.

Cleveland at Denver (-3.0): Denver. Denver won on a miracle play last week. The real blessing is getting to face Cincy and Cleveland to start the season.

NY Giants at Dallas (-3.0): Cowboys. New season. New stadium. Romo is going to light it up in prime time this weekend.

Indianapolis at Miami (+4.0): Colts. Even With Gonzalez hurt, Wayne, Addai and Clark will have their way with the Dolphins. No Tom Greene-o.
