So, the video for Trey Songz newest (kinda new, I guess? I’ve been listening to this for months now) song, Invented Sex, is finally out. The interesting thing about the video? If you wanted to see it on Twitter, you had to follow Trey Songz, enter your twitter information and then this would happen.

Clever marketing, I have to admit. But Trey, as much as everyone else, has to realize that this is the internet. What does that mean? It means that the video is of course available elsewhere, without having to let all your boys know that you not only follow trey songz on twitter, but that you tweet about his videos.

I Hate Music. Just Kidding! LOL

Man…I like Trey Songz. He actually has talent, in terms of being able to sing without auto-tune or 8 hours of studio work. Gucci Mane? well, he tries real hard, and I appreciate the effort. But I think I need to sit down and have a talk with both of them after they put out the atrocity that is LOL Smiley Face. Yes, the song is called “LOL Smiley Face“.

Its like if the teletubbies met Soulja Boy. Yes, its that bad. At least, I think…I couldn’t actually listen to the whole thing.

Trey Songz is the most frustrating R&B star to emerge this decade.

He possesses a piercing tenor and an instantly recognizable vocal presence, something his contemporaries (from Mario to Chris Brown to Ne-Yo) probably wish they had. And when he has material to match his voice, he is peerless. “Gotta Go”, from his debut album, was the most effortlessly soulful pop song to emerge from the recent crop of millennial R&B new jacks. “We Should Be”, from his sophomore album, Trey Day, was every bit its equal.

And yet, for as talented and gifted as he is, Songz’ albums are always a mixed bag…
